Release the sound of trees
and let them speak
as if cities with unbearable
voices never once existed.
Let air brush down their lawns
with mouths of laughter
and lift them uprooted and free
like matches in the solitary wind.
Then there will be a meeting on
earth to discuss wood. Sacrifices
will be made and new laws with
religious codes will be
carved on desks of exquisite pine.
The pure will sing in honour of eternal
wounds but others who make warm
blankets out of uncommon trees and
know the depth of falling leaves may
consider the smell of grievous
authorities more worthy to appease.
