I learned today that a laser burst

travels forever. Aim your laser

at the moon, eight seconds later

the light arrives, bounces off

goes in a new direction. This is

the continuance, energy

once emitted, lasts forever.

On a fine edge of logic, I also

learned today that two mirrors

reflecting upon one another reach

infinity. Perhaps this is the definition

of love, one soul facing another

soul, the laser light bouncing from one

to another, merging into patterns.

My friend tells me to embrace old age.

She speaks of the honesty and appreciation

of unhurried lust. She tells me to

find beauty in the textures. Perhaps

that is why we must age. Perhaps

peace is looking back upon the years

finding happiness in the moments left.
