I took the big red and white train from Pamplona
On a sizzling hot Sunday to Barcelona.
When I went to the hotel near the college
They said it was too early for me to check in.
So I hailed a yellow and black taxi cab
Down to the beach for a little bit of sun.

The driver knew that I was a Yank
So he dropped me off at the nude beach.
Beautiful senoritas laid on the sand in all their glory
While surrounded by wrinkly old men who knew better.
So I took a siesta filled with the sweet dreams of beauties
Only to wake up to their muscular boyfriends and their scooters.

So I took a long stroll down the wide sandy beach
Where factories once stood and their workers toiled.
I made my way toward all of the big shiny hotels
That they built in ’92 for the Olympic turistas.
It’s hard to believe that Barcelona used to be
The city that turned its back on the sea.
